Rule 4
(c) By whom served. Process may be served:
(1) Within the state, by the sheriff
of the county where the service is
made, or by the undersheriff or
deputy, or, at the request of the
party causing same to be issued,
by any other person of the age of
majority, not a party to the action,
appointed for such purpose by the
clerk;
(2) In another state or United States
territory, by the sheriff of the
county where the service is made, or
by the undersheriff or deputy, or by
a United States marshal, or the deputy,
or any other person of the age of
majority, not a party to the action,
appointed for such purpose by the clerk;
(3) In a foreign country, by any citizen
of the United States of the age of majority
appointed for such purpose by the clerk;
(4) In the event service is made by a
person other than an officer, the amount
of costs assessed therefor, if any, against
any adverse party shall be within the
discretion of the court. |
